Then we get into it. Another Texas headline, another walking red flag. This time out of Plano, where a 32 year old mom went to pick up her kids from her estranged husband and never made it to brunch. We walk through the wellness check, the shirt he answered the door in, the phone call to his mom, and what police found in the garage the second time they came back. What really got us, though, was the timeline before all of it. Because two months earlier there were gorgeous family photos on the internet with "love of my life" captions and almost nobody knew they were separating.

From there it goes where it always goes with us: custody exchanges, public drop-offs, forgiveness we are not quite ready to hand out, a conversation about a first gun and the rules that came with it.
